Rediscovering Your Voice
October 17, 2026 · A Rooted & Rising reflection
Your voice does not have to arrive at full volume to count. It can begin with a preference: ‘I would rather meet earlier.’ It can be a question: ‘Can you explain what that means before I agree?’ It can be the decision to take time before answering.
Practice in a situation where the consequences are manageable. Separate what you know from what you assume, then choose words that fit the actual request. You can be clear without delivering a speech. You can also decide that a particular room has not earned a private part of your story.
Afterward, review the evidence. Did you say what you intended? Was the response safe and respectful? Would a different time, setting, or source of support help? Confidence is easier to build when you can point to a specific choice you made, rather than demanding that you never feel uncertain.
A question to carry with you
What preference or question would you like to practice stating clearly?
You may reflect privately or use a fictional example. Personal disclosure is optional.
